Urine does not sit on the surface. It soaks straight through the cover into the comfort layers, and as it dries it leaves behind uric acid crystals that do not dissolve in plain water. That is why a mattress can look fine after a home scrub and then smell again on the first humid night: the crystals rehydrate and release the odour. Fragrance sprays and baking soda hide it for a while. They do not remove it.
The urine treatment is +$40 per mattress on top of the size price, so a queen with urine treatment is $159. Heavy saturation — a mattress that has been wet repeatedly over months, or where urine has reached deep into the core — can add $20–$40, and we tell you before we start, not after.
Night-time wetting is common well into primary school, and the families who call us are usually just tired of the smell coming back. A clean every few months, plus a good waterproof protector that still breathes, keeps a child’s mattress fresh without replacing it every year. Kids’ singles are one of the cheapest things we clean: $79 for the mattress plus $40 for the treatment.
If it is fresh, blot — do not rub — with an old towel, pressing hard to draw liquid up. Skip the hot water, bleach and ammonia-based cleaners: heat and some chemicals can set the stain and make the smell harder to shift. Strip the bed and leave it uncovered to air. Then book us, and tell us roughly how old the accident is.

Common questions
Not if the urine has been broken down rather than masked. That is the point of an enzyme treatment. The exception is a mattress that has been soaked many times deep into the core — we will say honestly if we think that is the case before you pay.
