House dust mites are microscopic relatives of spiders that live in bedding, carpets and upholstery, feeding on the skin flakes people shed every night. It is not the mites themselves that trigger allergies so much as their droppings and body fragments, which build up in the top layers of a mattress. That is why an old mattress can make symptoms worse even when it looks perfectly clean.
The dust mite treatment is +$30 per mattress. A queen with the treatment is $149.
No cleaning service can make a mattress permanently mite-free, and you should be wary of anyone who says they can. Mites return as long as people sleep on the bed. What a proper clean does is remove the accumulated allergen and bring the population right down, and what keeps it down is a good allergen-barrier protector, washing bedding hot, and a repeat clean every 3–6 months for allergy households. If you have severe asthma, talk to your GP or allergist about the full picture; mattress cleaning is one part of it, not a cure.
Many of Adelaide’s older villas and cottages in the east, the inner north and the foothills are dustier than newer, sealed homes — original floorboards, gaps and older heating all move more dust around. If your symptoms are worse in winter when the house is shut up, the mattress is a good place to start.

Common questions
Hot water extraction removes a large share of mites and, more importantly, the allergen-heavy debris they leave. Our add-on treatment adds a HEPA vacuum pass and anti-allergen treatment. Nothing makes a mattress mite-free permanently.
Every 3–6 months is a sensible rhythm, alongside an allergen-barrier protector and washing sheets weekly at 60°C where the fabric allows.
